Welcome to our mercado!

We created our mercado for three reasons;

One, to stimulate the local economy of Xochimilco, México. The belief that we are all connected and have a shared responsibility in caring for one another has inspired us to adhere to the highest ethical collaboration/business practices and to have the utmost respect for the hard work and talents of our artisan relatives in Xochimilco. We wish to elevate your style with beautiful and inspirational pieces for your home and person, make you smile with our precious Axolotl products, spark important conversations with our t-shirt statements, and more, all while making a positive impact in the lives of those who make the items we bring to you. It is important to us that we are not takers, but instead collaborators and contributors to the local economy of Xochimilco, preservation of culture, and to the continuation of traditional art forms. 

Second, to give all members and volunteers at Chinampa Temachtiani economic opportunities, which is linked to the continuation of our important work. It’s not easy for grassroots organizations like ours to stay afloat and for members to avoid burnout, so your support in our sustainability is greatly appreciated.

And third reason, to provide a space for our supporters and collaborators to showcase their products to all of you. Together we are stronger!
